Using the recent accident at Madrid’s Barajas Airport as the main theme, Sara Dobarro spoke in Top Fly’s Aula Magna on September 29th in front of numerous students. Her presentation focused on the media’s treatment of this accident and the repercussions this has had for both aviation and journalism when channelling the information generated by this event to the public.
The conference formed part of the communication section of the Human Factors and Limitations Course. It highlighted, among other things, the need for better documentation and understanding by the press as a key element when offering truthful, objective information abstaining from speculation. She also stated that aeronautical companies are in need of adequate press offices capable of organising the low of information.
Sara Maria Dobarro Gomez is a writer and journalist with a Masters Degree in Law and Economics in the European Union from the University of Santiago de Compostela.
Her professional experience includes the written press, radio and television. She was Communication Adviser for the Galician Government between 1990 and 1994 and worked directly with the President of this Government as a reporter and information adviser in his Cabinet.
Presently she lives in Saragossa and works as president of the Comunicación Global y Estrategias company.
