The signing was witnessed by Mr. He Guoqiang, a member of the Permanent Committee of the Central Committee’s Political Bureau and Secretary of the Disciplinary Control Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party. On the Spanish side Mr. Moratinos and Mr. Sebastián, Foreign Minister and the Minister for Industrial and Commercial Cooperation. Top Fly was represented by its CEO, Jorge García Veguín along with Top Fly’s Asia representative, the President of Asia Gestion, José Narciso Vilaclara.
The new airline, Tianjin Airlines, has been operating since June 10th and has 10 domestic flights per day. The inaugural flight was from Guiyang in Guizhou province (in the south west) to Xi’an in Shaaxi province (in the centre of the country).
The company also offers Hohhot, Taiyuan, Qingdao and Dalian as destinations. They plan to operate 500 routes and have 100 flights, some of which will be international, by the year 2012.
Tianjin Airlines is a joint venture launched by Hainan Airlines Co. and Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone Investment Co. with a capital of 1,300 million yuan (190 million dollars, 135 million euros).
