The course is imparted under JAR-FCL regulations and permits the student to obtain a Commercial Helicopter Pilot Licence, with the type-ratings necessary to apply for a First-Officer position in any helicopter company which operates multi-pilot helicopters, or as a Commander of a one-pilot helicopter in European countries and companies that are covered by the regulations mentioned above.
The course is adapted to the availability of the students, so they can combine their flight schedule with other activities such as study or work.
The course lasts 20 months (16 for CPL) and is comprised of theory training (Timetable- either 08:30-12:00 or 17:00-20:30 Monday to Friday), simulator and flight training (timetable adapted to student availability).

Entrance exams
Before being accepted, the students must pass entrance exams that consist of:
· Test of English level. The test consists of 3 parts: reading comprehension, speaking and listening.
· Mathematic and physics test.
· Personal interview
If one of the tests is not completed successfully, it will mean NOT being accepted onto the course.

ATPL (H) Course content |
The course comprises a theory phase and a flight phase (real and simulated)
THEORY PHASE
The course consists of 1,200 hours of theory classes (800 for CPL) given either in the morning or the afternoon and are distributed amongst the following subjects:
· Air law
· Aircraft general knowledge
· Performance & flight planning
· Human factors
· Meteorology
· Navigation
· Operation procedures
· Principles flight
· Communications
There are general and specific English classes specifically for those students not from non-English speaking countries in order to obtain the certificate of English ICAO level 4.
At the end and when the official exams are completed, the students are credited with the theoretical knowledge corresponding to Airline Transport Pilots Licence- Helicopter, or a Commercial Pilot.
The theory course lasts 16 months (12 months for CPL).
Once the theory course and the internal practice exams (ECO) are completed, the student will be presented for the official exams. If the internal exams are not passed, the student will NOT be able to attempt the official exams and the student will receive extra instruction to prepare for a later examination date.

The weekly flight schedule is prepared on Thursday of each week; the student must hand in their availability for the following week on Thursday as well. It is imperative that the student hands in a weekly availability sheet to avoid delays in completing the course.

Post grad follow-up |
Once the course is finalized and the corresponding flight license is obtained, the students can opt to take a postgraduate course (without any further cost) that TOPFLY maintains with various helicopter companies as a flight operator (TAF HELICOPTERS) or for pilot selection processes for companies held in collaboration with TOPFLY.
Students can also decide to do their first type-rating course at the TOPFLY TRTO; the following type-ratings are available:

Once received, the school will get in contact with the student to start the process of selection. The selection process will be done at least 1 month before the course start date with final acceptation depending on the entrance exam results. If the entrance exam results are not sufficient, the student may opt to repeat the entrance exams for a later course.
